The Wars of the Roses, Richard III and the often violent clashes between competing factions for the English throne has often located in this delightful county. This is reflected in these pictures of the castles at Kirby Muxloe and Ashby-de-le-Zouch, Bradgate Park and the Cathedral in Leicester itself where Richard III.

Catherine, queen for only six days, came from what is now Bradgate, and the deer park continues to be a delightful weekend retreat:
